Biography

Building Intelligent Machines to Interact with Humans on Everyday Tasks

Dr Nicole Robinson is a Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision on the Humanoid Robotics project. Nicole completed a PhD in Human-Robot Interaction at Queensland University of Technology with Professor David Kavanagh.

Nicole’s PhD thesis involved the use of a social humanoid robot to conduct a psychological interview and treatment with a human.

Nicole is currently working on using humanoid robots in a set of clinical trials and experimental studies. Her research involves replicating human behaviours into agents and robotic systems to help achieve a task or goal using techniques such as machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing and humanoid robot interaction.

Technical interest areas include robotics, machine learning, cognitive/clinical/experimental psychology, computer vision, natural language processing, intelligent agents, and human-robot interaction.
